Yes.

Everything forward of the cab except the bumper is the same on 1/2-, 3/4- and 1-ton trucks. The bumper on a 1-ton is made of heavier material and has a stiffener behind it and the brackets are different. I'm not sure if the splash panel is the same or not.

Anything larger than a 1-ton has a different doghouse. Different hood, different fenders, different grill and the pieces that go under the skin are pretty much all different too.

I don't think I've ever used doghouse in this context before...

Re: doghouse help!!!!

Doghouse was brought up because he's probably a Mustang guy. The early mustang's have the inner fenders and frame all attached to the body, unibody style. Because of this the front end must be cut from the mustangs firewall and replaced when wrecked. That is what a "doghouse" is.

Yes i have had a few mustangs, around 8 or so over the years, I have a 88 gt and a 1965 now.

Now back to the trucks, Is a 1-ton over a 3800?

so a 3800 will work... thats good. The 54 is still here, I will let you know how it is down here before you come. Maybe we can do the trade if the snow holds off.

Yes a 3800 is a 1-ton Chevy. A 1-ton GMC is a 250.

Chevy and GMC hoods are different in every year. Before '54 Chevy and GMC fenders are a little different. People do manage to convert them but you're probably better off finding the right ones.

That's where the wife makes you live after you by an old truck!

On the AD truck (47 2nd to 55 1st), conventional cab.

All trucks used the same cab and doors, with minor differences due to model changes.

All 1/2, 3/4 & 1 ton used the same front clip, again differences due to model year. 54-55 have a different grill, fenders are close to the earlier trucks but have visible differences on the lower front.

All medium duty (1.5 ton & up) used the same front clip, differences due to model year. The hood, fenders, grill, bumper and radiator support are larger than the light duty.

This is not including the COE trucks, None of the major sheet metal interchange with the light or medium duty trucks.
