70 k1500...no horn, need help

1. Where would I find the horn relay?

2. I manually tested both horns with a length of jumper wire and they work. SO the problem is somewhere in the harness.

3. I see no fuse marked horn in the fuse block.

4. I hate dealing with electrical stuff, but is there a diagram so I can trace the horn wiring?

what happens when you press the horn button? can you hear any sort of click noise under the dash? The horn relay is under the dash right next to the steering column on the firewall. someone else will probably chime in who knows more than me

It has one of those Grant/LMC wheels with the foam rim. I am not hearing a click under the dash when the button puts the contacts together. I'll look around under there tomorrow to see if I can find something. Who knows what what kind of wiring chicanery has been going on with this thing before I got my hands on it.

Have they ever worked with the horn button? If not there may not be any horn components inside the steering wheel/column. I have bought two trucks with aftermarket steering wheels and neither one of them had the horn parts installed inside the steering wheel.

on the grant wheels you have to make a connection between the horn contact on the turn signal cancelling cam, and the contact ring that the horn button snaps onto. my guess is it's just not connected.

Re: 70 k1500...no horn, need help

I have two threads that will shed some light:
No horn on tilt column...
No horn, B/U lights...
Both are in the electrical section. Just do a search or look at my postings.
If I remember correctly someone sent a fuse diagram link.
Hope that helps!
