Re: 72 door

The 72 door has a screw below the vent window to make it sturdier and the shaft on the regulator is longer to clear the 72 door panel. Other than that they're the same.

Yes! If putting 69' crank (guts) in 72' door shell and using 72' door panel, the crank would not stick out far enough.

Re: 72 door

Yep....ditto on the window crank (stud) length.
The '72 inner door panels were thicker/fancier than previous door panels so they had to lengthen the crank pin to stick out far enough.
A lot of guys have got this wrong in swapping doors out and around and have had to find the correct window lift assembly to correct the condition.

??
I'm looking at my 71 door, there is def a void between the crank and panel,

would a 72 panel not work on a 71 door?

it seems like there isn't that much difference between the stud lengths

Yes, the shaft on the regulator is longer, which means it sticks out further.

Yes you can if your going to use the 69 door panel. If you do you'll need to make provisions to attach the door panel ie: capture nuts or something for the panel attachment screws. ( Then the guts from your 69 door will work )

If you plan to use a 72 door panel then you will need the 72 door opener relay & the 72 window regulator, due to the longer shafts need for the deeper 72 panels..
