Old Air system question
Hello everyone. I just got my old air A/C system charged and running in my 70 GMC. I am currently trying to run all the cables and vent hoses. I have a couple of questions. Any answers or pics would help me alot.
1. I have the defrost/ Air lever hooked up that moves the air between the dash vents and defrost vents. What do the other two cables hook to? 2. How does the center dash vent hook up? 3. How do the defrost hoses run? These may sound like dumb questions but I have never knew much about A/C systems, so excuse my ignorance.

The othercables go to valves under the hood and are on the heater hoses to stop flow when running air, ifyou have a heat/cool unit.I f this is a new unit you bought all this is covered in the instructions.If not well I guess this is where you will find answeres.

It's not on my instructions. I will contact old air Monday to see if they can help me.

Ya, the instructions leave a little to be desired. You only need two cables with this system. The third is deleted. The long one goes thru the firewall to the water control valve. The shorter one goes to the body of the unit to move the defrost/heat lever. When you hook up the water control valve, set the valve to off/no flow and the lever to cold. Now tighten the cable lock on the water valve and test it for operation. This lever also runs the A/C compressor switch contacts, so setting it is a little tricky. Just trial and error will get you in the range you need.

Sorry, I forgot about the center vent. Run the hoses to the defrosters first, they are the top left hand outlet on the box. There is a "Y" that splits it between both of them. Then the a/c hoses connect to the front(as you are looking at it) outlets on the box. I didn't use the center vent on mine, I went with under dash outlets, so can't remember how that one hooked up. Meaning I don't know if it had a hose on each side like factory. If it does, then you just run the hoses to it like normal.
