New guy with a new toy!

hey guys, as you can see i just joined not to long ago. at any rate i just picked up this 1972 suburban yesterday and thought i'd share some pics/info, well atleast what the P.O told me. it's a '72 that has a 400 small block, 350 turbo tranny, originally a californa truck that was brought to iowa 4 or 5 years ago (the frame and panels seem to be saying the same). other then that it's got most of the parts to it and some really bad amateur bodywork (no offense to the P.O) Anyways on with some pics. sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but the camera is acting up

Re: New guy with a new toy!

Nice find. Engine looks clean - hard to see the body details - beyond it needs a little help, but the interior should clean up nice - lots of parts available. Also great that you got a garage - you can keep it dry until further work.

Best,
TT

Re: New guy with a new toy!

thanks guys. i had a '71 two wheel drive and a '72 four wheel drive that all they ever amounted to was collecting parts for them. so hopefully this time around i'll get one out on the road to enjoy it! anywho, not much of an update but i did get some of the "primer" off to see how bad it really was underneath. sure is a lot of bondo for something that could have been solved with a little bit of hammer and dolly work. atleast on the upside this thing apears to have the original paint? underneath it.

Re: New guy with a new toy!

thanks guys. seeing some of the other burbs on here makes me really wish i had deeper pockets. but on a serious note i was wondering if you guys could post some pictures of your interiors. i've tried searching and haven't come up with much luck. i know the rear bench isn't original but i'm not sure if the front one i have is correct. any help would be great!
