2000 Suburban- electical issue?

Hay all, we've had our 00 Suburban/Yukon XL for a few weeks now. Everything is fine except for yesturday. We cranked up, went down the road about 1 mile and shut off. When we reached to open the doors they were locked. The unlock button didn't work, and would not turn over with switch. Nothing would work? A complete electrical disconnect??? I manually unlocked the door, opened hood and checked everything. Luckly, we had a booster box. I used that to jump the battery. Car started fine...... Now everything checks out fine?? Has anyone ever had this happen to them?? Really stumped here?????? Alternator charging 14.4 volts. Battery is 12.5 with car off. David

Re: 2000 Suburban- electical issue?

Thanks, was going to do that tonight. Might even switch out battery, with known good one. Wife and kid use this truck. It's odd that when we shut the truck off, the whole truck went "black" (no power). The current battery is 3 years old. I hope we didn't get a LEMMON Yukon eXtra Large......

Re: 2000 Suburban- electical issue?

We had a same issue. It turned out to be the battery cables at the battery. My positive is double stacked and when it would happen I could move at the battery and it would run again.
So I bought this for both + and - to fix it.

This is where i was going. The cables are notoroius for corrosion/failure.

Re: 2000 Suburban- electical issue?

I think I figured out what my "electrical blackout" was from. The pos terminal was a little loose..... Not about to fall off, just that I could move it... Thanks for the tips on that, but I didn't think that could have been all. I thought the battery might be going out too. So, I've been waiting for the next time to happen, and it hasn't. I will keep my eyes on these. It's been a great truck so far! David
