Are they identical in how the front end bolts up or are they completely different?

I know the difference in the frontend, but I'm curious to know if there's much difference in the rad supports or if a '68 support can be used on a '72.

I'm pretty sure they are different. The headlight buckets are different, I believe.

According to the aftermarket, 67-68 are the same. 69-72 are as well. Not sure what the differences are but they do appear to be different for some reason

Well I figured they are different due to the fenders, but I'm curious to know what the 'real' differences are. I think the frame mounting is slightly different as well. There's not much difference between a '68 & '72 chevy grill/headlights. I have both trucks, but without taking everything apart I can't tell if there are any major differences.

There are significant difference is the headlight mounting. It will be plain to see when you look at both of them side by side.

The bushings where the core support mounts to the frame rails are also different. 67-68 vs. 69-72.

Similar but different question...

Is a 67-68 GMC rad support the same as a Chevy?

ie. could you use the chevy grill and just ignore the additional (inside) headlight buckets?

i switched mine from 70 and put 67-68 front end on it and yes they are different and they have two styles of bushings to mount to the frame. i ordered them for the core support but you have to have them for whatever frame is under your truck

I have seen people take off the extra bucket and make it work for a chevy.

As mentioned the buckets are different on 67-68 vs 69-72...and the bottom holes are a different size to work with the different mounts.
