Towing and Hauling

Hi, Been awhile since I posted.
I have a 1998 K2500 reg cab that I use 3-4 times a year to tow a jeep on a car trailer. The trailer has electric brakes on both axels. I am considering getting a slide in camper. (I used to use a suburban, you guys were very helpful diagnosing it) (sleeping in the 'burb was cool, sleeping in a tent bites)

I'm curious about hauling the camper and towing the jeep. the terrain I travel through is hilly, Pennsylvania mountains.

The truck has no issue towing the jeep.

It has the 5.7L vortek and a 4L80E. It also has the semi-float rear axel.

Has anyone had experience towing and hauling? Thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Towing and Hauling

It all depends on the weight.

Re: Towing and Hauling

I'm thinking it's gonna be loaded down. The weight of the camper (slide-in) ain't too bad on its' own, but adding the weight of the trailer plus Jeep? I can appreciate the brakes on the trailer and that they will help slow down the overall (gross) weight of your rig, but it's climbing those hills that will be a tough putt.

Only one way to know.....hook 'em up and give it a go.
