Check the fuel pump first. go with a new fuel filter too.

x2 on the fuel pump and filter. As cheap as they are, that would be your most cost effective first option and a very likely culprit.

Do you know it has gas? May seem like a dumb question, but with dual tanks, old gauges and sending units, water in the tank, etc.... I have "repaired" a few over the years with a gallon of gas when the owner thought there was gas in it.

the fuel filter on these things goes for about $3.. id replace that..I would crank the motor while the fuel line is disconnected and see if you have fuel coming up from the pump. Assuming you have decent fuel coming and a new gas filter then the next step is to see if the choke is properly working.... after that youre looking at the carbuerator itself

Re: Got a problem and need help please?

If your priming it to get it to start, that only means one problem, your not getting any fuel into the cyclinders. Like it was discribed above, there could be a few different reasons why, do the simple stuff first, crack the line at the output of the fuel pump to see if your getting fuel to that point, if so, move up the line toward the carb, if not, then you need to find out why there is no fuel reaching the fuel pump.

There are a number of reasons for this to happen:
1) out of gas
2) clogged fuel line
3) clogged fuel filter
4) failed fuel pump
5) intake screen at the carb is clogged
6) neddle valve in the float bowl is stuck.

Re: Got a problem and need help please?

if it's above 50 or 60 deg's and it's get'n fuel, you dont even need the choke. first question, how long has it been since this truck run ?
like most said it sound's like the fuel pump.
take the air filter off and pump the throttle with your hand, can you see any fuel squirt down the carb ?
no=fuel pump
yes=bad fuel/water

be care prime'n it, I've seen poeple get burn'd or set the car on fire !
