Anyone have any drawings / plans for a good body cart for a first gen. Blazer? Looking to build one and could use some help. Thanks.

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

Thanks John. Do you know this guy? Never heard of the town in PA where he is from. Would something like that work for what you need? We should build it together and we can share it, and pass it around among our local Blazer friends.

Dusty,
Are you going to go with wood or steel? I think I am going to build one out of galvanized angle or tube so when I am not using it I can keep it outside without it rusting all up or rotting? Itseither that or go up to Newark and get a rottiserie from Geg Smith equipment LOL

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

Just going to make it out of wood. It's cheap (I have lots of wood laying around) and I know how to work with wood. Not so much with steel. A rottiserie would be nice. Not in the budget though

There is a member on here that built a cart that he could roll the body on its side. Has anyone else seen that? I cant seem to find it now. That would be ideal for working on the bottom.

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

See my thread here:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...56#post5293556

That's what I plan on doing, I think it'll be fine.

Here's a link:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=514988

I don't know if it's just me, but I have issues finding the stuff I want via the search function here. I usually find more posts that I need, and not the stuff I'm looking for.

What I do is just go to google and type in "cab dolly dimensions for chevy truck" 99% of the time one of the first links is to this site. Click on "more discussion results from this site" and you'll see all the threads here that pertain to what you're looking for.

The above link is the one I think you are talking about but not sure if you could adapt it for a Blazer

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

Yeah you'd have a hell of a time rolling a whole Blazer tub onto its side, and then back, all by yourself

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

There was a member in the Blazer build section that built one. He built it to where you could roll it on its side by yourself with a engine hoist. He had pics of the Blazer on its side. Now I can not find the post. Guess I will have to look at all the Blazer builds again. LOL

Richard2717 Same concept as the link you posted, but he made it longer so it would bolt to the rear body mount bolts.

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

Great stuff guys. Question though: are all the body mounts on the Blazers on the same plain? Or are some sitting higher than others? When looking at mine it appears that the rear ones are higher than the front, which would mean I need to shim up the rear of the cart with boards in order to get the tub to sit level on it. Is this the case or am I mistaken?

The back mount is about 5'' higher and the second from the back mount is about 3 1/2'' higher than the front cab mounts.

I won't hold you to it, but how certain are you of those height differences?

Re: Body Cart Plans / Drawings

I took a 2x4 and ran it from front to back across the front mounts and measured up from the top of the 2x4. I would measure on yours to be exact.
