Question Pictures of various door mirrors

Is there a thread somewhere showing all the different door mirrors that were available? (really only need 1969 C30 1 ton versions)

I'm not able to locate the "flyswatter" long arm mirrors for my wrecker resto so it looks like I may have to pick something else. Will be putting new door skins on soon and need to have something picked out so I know where the holes will end up.

Thanks,

Question Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

Can someone tell me the name of this style mirror below? (picture found on forum, not my truck)

I found an exact pair of these today on a C50 and thought of maybe using them on my wrecker.

Would this style be "correct" for a 69 Custom/30? If so, would they be body color or white?

Thanks,

Look like a version of the "Jr. West Coast" mirrors.

Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

I have a set of mirrors that i could part with. PM me if you are interested. Hope i am not breaking any rules by doing so. They are a little larger than the west coast junior mirrors but may look more proportioned on a tow truck. Stainless arms and mirror heads. Mirrors could use new glass though they have some pitting or whatever you call it.

Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

I borrowed that picture and posted a WTB ad on the parts forum. Were you buying the ones off the C50 or just looking at them as a comparison? That is to say were the ones you saw for sale?

If these are called "juniors", I'd hate to see the seniors!

These look a bit large but might be fitting for a wrecker. Going to go back today and might get them.

Thanks everyone,

Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

Your correct Tim. The truck still had the sticker on the glove door and it had DG5 for the mirrors.

Here's the set I got today in really good condition. I suppose someone just added the smaller round mirrors on the bottom bolt, they come right off if needed.

These things are huge! (but growing on me) I just realized I only paid $5 bucks for these. I think the cashier may have made a mistake in my favor.

Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

Oh yeh, what's the correct fasteners for these? This truck had sheetmetal bolts with 3/8 heads on the bottom brackets just going into the door skin (no brackets inside door) and at the top it was small bolts (head side in door jam) with nuts on the outside. Didn't quite look factory to me especially the top ones. ??

Thanks,

Re: Pictures of various door mirrors

I've seen several on older big trucks with screws with the heads inside and acorn nuts.

These are huge but they serve a function. They also can hide a lot. Hence the popularity of the below eyeline mirror which for some strange reason many people mount too high so you can't see over them to clear traffic.

If it turns out you don't like them, I'm first in line @ $5.00 OK?

As to mounting them, bolts out at the top seems right and is exactly as my D500 Dodge's similar bubblebacks are mounted.

I'd think hard on using a "c" channel backer for the three primary bolts and run those, head out, into nylon locking nuts. Nothing compares to finding a mirror missing off your truck, been there done that!

The spots are a good add on. Once you use them you will identify areas the primary mirror dosen't cover. I'd set mine so I could just see the load (horses) along the inner edge and set the spots to clear below and lanes aside the truck.
