Re: 350 turbo

Sounds like the parking pawl is stripped or worn.

Re: 350 turbo

I'd pull the pan and have a look first. It's not a hard fix. I haven't rebuilt a 350 turbo in a while but if I remember right, you have to drop the valve body to change the parking pawl.

Could be that it's not engaging 100% or is loose too, maybe an adjustment. Might be real simple.

I guess I will drop the pan and check it out, these old Blazers are just so heavy,it's their weak spot.

Re: 350 turbo

There is a metal piece that the park rod pushes into. The rod squeezes between it and the pawl, forcing the pawl into the park gear. Most of time the metal piece gets bent and all you have to do is replace it. Just 2 bolts once the pan is off. You can look at the pawl then. The pawl is kind of a paine to change, it pivots on a pin wich is held in with a small plug on the back side of the trans, just in front of the govenor cover. Once you get the plug out(no fun) you sometimes can get a small needle nose plyers and reach up by the pawl and slide the pin out. The fun part is the trans fluid running down your arm while you are doing all of this.

I second this. Also, check your shift linkage. If it's out of adjustment, it won't let it fully go into park sometimes. This is usually caused by something being worn or broken in the body mount region. Just went through it on my truck.
