just bought my weather pack connecters.....

Now, i need advise on the choice of tools. Low ball is 20, mid range is 80, top end is 200.

I dont use them often, but i would like to have good electrical connections, im thinking the mid range

Any advice?

I have the same crimpers marketed by Mac Tools as well as other ratcheting type crimpers and I'll grab these 9 times out of 10 for open barrel crimping.

Ill take that sage advice, i see they list a set of installation, and removal tools as well....

Is there a way to identify gauge of wire by measurement?

On this chart, find the diameter of your wire in the second column, and in the 7th column of the same row will be your gauge. Measure the conductor and not the insulation.

Thanks for the advice, got the crimpers and hand tools for the tabs today. Should last well into my grandchildren, unless my sons see them first

Two questions....

Do you use the larger crimp size to secure insulation

Is the seal facing the right direction

Yes the seal is facing the right direction use the big die to lightly crimp the seal in place (don't bottom out the crimp). also on the wire crimp I like to step down the sized to get a super tight crimp.

Can you put two wires in one crimp, want to make a jumper

The terminals are not very well suited for multiple wires (you may get away with it if the wires are very small) Best would be to do a soldered tap in on the wire itself and heat shrink. I prefer using splice packs which is basically a metri pack with buss bar jumpers they even make printed circuits for them.

Ok, with the new information youve provided, i have to rethink the whole situation. I like your remedy better than mine

So, then the female connecters push onto the buss bars, and the buss bars get the wires soldered. Are there covers for the smaller buss bars or only the bigger ones

Those are Metri-packs the female connectors are crimped to the wire and the buss bar plugs into the connectors, I've only seen the covers for the 6 way plugs.

They also work as a 3 circuit fuse block using ATM fuses, weatherproof to boot:

I've only seen one, when I was working for a military sub-contractor, 35 years ago.... it was in the quality control department.

Thanks guys for your time, and information! Metri-pak is it (6 way). Didnt understand how the buss bars worked, until you explained it. Should be a clean install now....

That mini fuse block is slicker than snot, ill keep that one in mind
