Carb question for Inline 6

Hey guys, I have a 67 250 inline six, and looking to get a new carb for it today.

Do you guys know the part number for the original one ?

I am looking at the classic industries magazine and they say

63-67 / 230

or do i get the 68-69 / 250

It does not state anything for the 67 / 250

Probably doesn't matter much. The one on my 68 has 7040014. Don't remember if I have changed it or not. There were several that would fit these 250's and about the only thing you'd have to look for was whether the choke was manual, divorced (on exhaust manifold) or automatic.

They were changed around by mechanics in the past and when they're sent in an exchange or send away for rebuilding parts are mixed also.

Re: Carb question for Inline 6

The 63-67 used the Rochester model B. 68 up had the Monojet. The later one can be used but it would take some modifications. They used many different systems of automatic chokes on the monojets. The choke system has to match the manifold. You probably have a manual choke on the model B. They are pretty easy to o-haul. It would be better to o-haul yours then trade it for a "reman". Of all things don't turn your old one in till you are sure the new one is working correctly. About half of the remans aren't right.

Absolutely correct. This is true of just about any exchange part on these old trucks. Keep the old one until you know the new one is good.

If yours is original it's worth rebuilding if it hasn't been totally messed up.
