Seat Swap

Will a bench seat from 73-87 fit in a 67-72?

Re: Seat Swap

I'm very new to these trucks, so take this with a grain of salt.....but all the reading I did on the subject (probably a weeks worth at least) said that the only seats that are true bolt in are the 67-72 seats, but that the 73-87 seats front bolt holes line up and only the rear holes need to be drilled. Can't promise that is true, but thought I would throw it out there since you've gone a day without a reply.

Re: Seat Swap

I believe that is what is in my truck. The seat was in the truck in 2001 when I bought it and i'm sure it had been recovered and not very well because I've only put 5000 miles on the truck since I bought it and the seat material is split and l
and I'm only 220.

Re: Seat Swap

The floor of a 73-87 is completely different. I beleive the 67-72 seat brackets will bolt to the 73-87 seat though.

Re: Seat Swap

The seat in the pic from the member poster Alredy Gone it is a seat out of a early to mid 80's truck and the steering wheel is a S-10 from 83-85. The last one was for free!! [so was the first one as far as that goes] Jim

Re: Seat Swap

My 69 stepside has a mid 70's GMC bench in it and I can say you will have to drill holes as the mounts don't line up. The PO also made 3 inch risers for each location. Not sure if that's absolutely needed or not though.

I'm returning it to the correct seat soon.

Re: Seat Swap

I just need a seat that folds. I understand that 67 & 68s fold as do everything after 1972.
