Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

These newbies want to call C/20s 2500s since that's what they've been called since before they took notice. As far as the truck goes...Saweet!

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

Flippers just drive the prices up and screw the people who don't realize the value of their trucks.

For those that don't remember I posted this truck up while it was on OKC Craigslist for months last year. It was offered for sale at 5k for a long time.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=554646

Email quote from the seller A.M.

"This truck is a C 20. I assume it has 132000 miles. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was only 32000. It doesn’t rattle or squeak. It rides and steers extremely well. It starts and runs great. I’ve had it about three years and put less than 1000 miles on it. I bought it from Colorado. The body is great, with the exception of the right rocker panel. It came factory without an air conditioner. Everything is original. The AM radio works great. The only thing that doesn’t work is the windshield washer. I replaced the front bumper and grill new. This is an extremely solid truck"...

Current eBay sellers quote
"she has not even been “Detailed”!"
Well I have a few thoughts on that statement.

The lower trim has been replaced. It was faded, peeled and missing sections.

It has had major rocker repair on the right side.

Isn't buffing out the paint "detailing"???

Wonder if it still has a red diff cover? Anyone know?

If someone is truely interested in this truck I can provide the seller's contact information to get a little more true history.

I'm not sure of the years but I know they are correct for 71-72. My 72 has them

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

On 72 Chevrolets that had the Z81 name plate option the emblems were mounted on the doors. Earlier trucks had Custom Camper fender emblems that superceeded the fender trim emblems. So the fender emblem would be whatever is correct for the vehicle trim level.
Custom/20
Custom Deluxe/20
Cheyenne/20
CheyenneSuper/20.

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

Thanks Tim for the clarification, I didn't know it was a 72 thing only. Being mostly a GMC emblem it's a no wonder they're like hens teeth to find.

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

Well now, that is a great service you've done for any and all who might be interested in buying it. Good job.

I'm thinking that severe rocker rot is pretty much proof positive that it's a 132k mile truck, and not 32k. Still super nice, but not what's being claimed in the auction description. That just ain't right.

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

I noticed them on the GMCs but on the Chevys it seems to me they had the 71-72 grill that's why I thought it was both years. The replacements I found were on a 72 cheyeene.

There were a number of years that GMC ran the door emblems and at the moment I can't do that off the top of my head.
But the Z81 nameplate option was available on Chevrolet trucks that meet the minimum equipment requirements for each series and MY.
67-68 was a fender emblem without a series designation.
69-71 trucks used a fender emblem with a series rating.
These superceeded the trim emblem.
CustomCamper/10 - CustomCamper/30 depending on MY.
72 only had door emblems and retained the series/trim emblem.

Re: Custom Camper Highlander alert

Yep,my '71 looked just like this '72. It had Custom Camper/20 fender badges and was a Cheyenne trim level according to all the trim feature, yet nowhere on the truck was it identified as a Cheyenne but on the SPID...which said CST. The last '72 Custom Camper I had was a Cheyenne Super. It had Cheyenne Super/20 fender badges and Custom Camper scripts on the doors. GMCs used the Custom and custom camper scripts in the doors prior to '72. The last '72 Highlander Custom Camper had all the emblems as this truck does (but it was a K/20! )
