1982 S-10 4x4 with 57K miles

My Dad has a 1982 S-10 4x4 extended cab with the 2.8 V-6, straight drive with 57K miles on it.

He just bought a "new" truck (1997 1500 with 40K miles, always garaged) and is going to sell the S-10.

The truck has always been parked outside and it is very rusty (the guys over on the 67-72 board would call it "Patina"), but runs like a top and is mechanically excellent.

My question is, do the low miles ad any value to the truck, or is it just an old beater that runs well...the A/C still works by the way.

Thanks for any comments.

Unfortunately there is little value in a low mile 2.8 V6.
The induction system(carburetor) is poopy, the HP is anemic, and the bottom end on that motor could go in 43 thousand miles, or a hundred and forty three thousand miles.

the good news for you should be that you can get sheetmetal all the way from the 1993 year model to work on that truck if you were to find a higher mile newer truck that had a bad motor or just one that someone wanted to unload.

The extended cab 4x4 is nice is it the floor shifter or the push button 4x4?The low mileage would make it sell faster but worth more not really. If the body was spotless you could get like 5k for it around here,But being rusty and 2.8 like 2k 3k range max here.
