16 year old kids second truck 79 C10

Hey all! I've been lurking for some time now and I'm officially a square owner. I've been building my main truck (1959 F100) but it'll be awhile til its done. So my mom bought a new car and gave me her old 1979 chevy C10 Custom Deluxe.

A couple buddies and I converted it from a saginaw 4 speed to a th350, truck drives alot better now! Its got a stock 350 with a aluminum edelbrock intake and thats about it! lol

So the 79 will become my daily driver and the 59 will be my hot rod. Trying to manage my money for both trucks....so a job is in order.

Anyways, I got some good plans for this truck. here they are.

I'll try and get more pics later as I progress. Right now it's in the driveway being worked on. Need a T fitting for back of manifold for the vacuum. And a edelbrock carb. In between rain showers in good old Oregon!

Re: 16 year old kids second truck 79 C10

Finally got the vacuum tee and everything hooked up, went for a test drive and it wouldn't shift going down the road..come back, post on facebook and a buddy of mine says "Check the vacuum module"..go out and crawl under and sure enough the hose was just dangling there because it was too big. So I got the right size and went down the road and it shifted/ran fine..even layed some rubber down. Only other mod I have done is black out the headlight buckets. Next I need to get a tranny pan gasket + filter and do a oil change.

Do what I plan to do and put on a sport bumper. Other than that it looks like a great DD.

I liked the F*&D but now you have the best of both worlds. Congrats on the Chevy. It looks like a great platform to build on. Holler if you need some help and if you are looking for work and don't mind the commute, come on out and ill give you the nickle tour. We can stop by HR and get an application.

Re: 16 year old kids second truck 79 C10

Unfortunately this truck is long gone up in Portland now. I have, however been helping my Girlfriends cousin Brandon restore his 79 C10. And YES the Ford is 'done', it's my daily driver.
