Re: steering wheel pics

My truck is stone stock except for the steering wheel. The steering wheel is the only thing that I don't like about my truck! I'll post a pic someday when I replace it with a Chevrolet wheel.

I went with the 71 Cutlass wheel, customized the center cap and dyed it match the Chevrolet red body color

Re: steering wheel pics

This is a Grant 992 steering wheel. It is a walnut wheel with actual finger grips on the back. It is 15" in diameter x 2-3/4" dish and comes with a built in horn button. Not the cheapo-cheesy mushroom type that just snaps into place.

Re: steering wheel pics

Billet Accessories Direct Outlaw wheel. Was on my truck when I got it. Full billet, no leather half wrap here. Looks great, espically when its polished up good, but is a real ***** if the truck has been sitting out in the sun.

And no, those horrible doorpanels are gone. Whoever decided they looked good should have their vision checked. Those were stripped and recovered to match the paint.

Here is mine...just a typical grant wood wheel. I like it, but the horn button sucks...keeps popping off at inopportune times.

Re: steering wheel pics

I had that same wheel in my truck before I redid the interior and liked it a lot. It looks good and is a nice size... In fact, I kept the wheel and plan on putting it into my DD. Here is a picture of it in my "old" interior.

Re: steering wheel pics

I'll get a pic of it in the truck but this is the one I just bought. I love it! It's the only one I could find that I thought fit the style I'm going for. I like a nice classic look but want it to have a custom/classy look. I have '06 GTO seats in mine.

Re: steering wheel pics

Another Grant same as 05crewcabs, not to pricey and has a good look about it, although I did want to change the color of the centre button leaving the bowtie blue with maybe the rest in black. They should offer a choice of colors for these horn buttons.

Re: steering wheel pics

Resurrecting this old thread because I'm looking for a steering wheel for my '72 Suburban. Currently have a flimsy plastic wheel on the truck. Looking at the LMC Truck catalog it's listed as 17" original.

I like the look of the 38-1160 wood steering wheel listed on this page - http://goo.gl/6uVj4B

It looks like the Grant wood wheel on some of the trucks in this thread but in the LMC picture it looks like it's a darker wood.

Is anyone currently running this wood wheel? Is LMC the best place to look? Any other suggestions/pics of period correct steering wheels?

Here's a pic of my truck (purchased years ago on this board):
