203/205 with long input?

I have a 91 v3500 with 4l80e/205 and have acquired a np203 off a th400.

I know if I swap the 205 input to the short style there is numerous adapters available, but is there a adapter which lets me keep the long input in the 205? I have tons of wheelbase to accommodate the extra few inches and with 8" lift the longer front driveshaft would be great.

Thanks

Try JEDS Machining he can make just about any configuration and it is made of steel so you have no worries of strength .I think it is 3" longer with that input .
I would also recommend a new output shaft as opposed to a cut and respline.

Is the output of the 203 range box 32 spline?
How far does it stick out?

Why would you want to change the 205 for the 203 any way

I bet he's using just the range box of the 203 in front of the 205 for a doubler combo. It's going in the OP's '91 with 38's so he's offroading this rig.

Re: 203/205 with long input?

thats alot of stress on the six bolts on the front of the 205 let alone adding 2" spacer to those bolts. just swap the input gear. it is a breeze of a job.

Re: 203/205 with long input?

Thanks for the input guys, It is a wheeling rig but I live close enough to work (5km) that I daily drive it in the winter and rainy days in the summer.

the 203 would only be a range box in front of the 205 , a few advantages being a extra low range and a bit of extra length in the front driveshaft

Re: 203/205 with long input?

Here is a pic of a jeds adapter you are looking for -GM NP203 to a long input NP205 .

A short input NP205 adapter is only 3" case to case and will give you about 9" longer front driveshaft.

Re: 203/205 with long input?

Does anyone know what Jeds 203-205 adapter runs? Short and long versions for a figure 8 pattern 205.
