Trailing Arm Bushing OEM style replacement help

I just used a ball joint press to get the bushing out and in the end the sleeve thats part of the bushing is still in the arm. I could go with the poly but I was hoping to use the OEM style like this...

Before I start trying to pry the sleeve out, what should I do to get it out and for the other arm...what was the right way to get the whole thing out?

Ended up doing the drill out of the rubber and using a ball joint press to pop out the inner sleeve the bolt slips through. After doing that I took a sawzall and placed the blade in the remaining sleeve and cut it just enough without cutting the trailing arm. Then I took a hammer and used the claw side and beat the heck out of the sleeve from the side, so it caved in. Then I slid out the sleeve. Now its ready for paint.

Bingo. Press the bushing out, score the shell, and cave it in on itself.

Once the paint cures up well enough and I have the replacement bushings, will I need a press to install? I read that someone put the bushings in the fridge to get the metal to contract and added the grease and it tapped in -- hopefully not banged in.

The OEM style will go right in except for the last 3/8 of an inch. I used the metal shell from the old one and turned it upside down, flange to flange. A couple whacks with a hammer and went right in. You can also use a socket if you have one big enough. Goes in a lot easier than they come out.

Yep, finally occurred to me to do that..glad it worked and I didnt cut into the trailing arm. By the way great build you have going. been following you and your Dads progress. Jealous, one day I hope to get all these parts reassembled.
