292 Ticking noise

So engine has had this noise since I got it, have put about 500 miles on it since. Checked and adjusted the valves (loosen till ticking then 3/4 turn in) no difference. Thought it might be the fuel pump as it seemed more noticeable there with a screwdriver to my ear, replaced. No difference. Pulled all plug leads one at a time. No difference. Starts fine, seems to run fine and doesn't smoke, ever.
Any thoughts? I've watched a dozen or more videos of 292's and most are noisy but have a hard time with this being normal.
Thanks.
