Coufal's 66 C10 Build

Howdy......new here and thought I might as well make a build thread. I had a 65 SWB as a teen that I built and lately I've had the itch to build another truck. I picked this one up about 6 weeks ago with a 454BB in it. Decided to sell the motor/trans combo and upgrade a bit. I'm trying to make this a relative easy-low budget build. I already have a 69 Camaro in the back that is in 1 million pieces!

Plans for this truck are:
Daily driver I can take the kids to school in
6.0 LQ4 (mild cam, headers, heads, intake and much later some forced air)
Disks all the way around
PorterBuilt Stage 2
Creature Comforts: AC, power windows, stereo....ect

Sweet truck! Great plan too, remember not to go too far with it. (Your camaro is in 1000000 pieces)

Re: Coufal's 66 C10 Build

You wouldn't believe me if I told you by looking at those pics.....but it's not really that clean. That crappy brown basecoat the original owner sprayed is great at hiding flaws. This thing is filled with mud and rust. The good thing is that it's all repairable.

LMAO at the Carmaro.... Looks like you got started, then got tired of it. Lets make sure the stepside doesn't go that direction, or maybe you can do 2 at a time, I dont know but for me thats allot to do..
I'm still looking for a 66 short step to go along with my 66 Long fleet.

Re: Coufal's 66 C10 Build

Today I test fit the radiator and it looks like it will be a winner. These Entropy Radiators are BEAUTIFUL! The welds are flawless. I opted to go with the one for the 67-69 Camaro because IMO it fits/looks better than the one intended for these trucks. This one sits flush with the top of the core support and will only require welding some small tabs to mount to the brackets. The one intended for these trucks sticks up about 4-5" higher than the core support. I'm very impressed with the quality and can't wait to get it mounted.

Re: Coufal's 66 C10 Build

Not much progress the past few days because I was waiting on a resolution for the motor mount situation with CPP. I finally have the proper mounts in route. I also ordered my Boyd's EFI tank. Last night I pulled the motor back out and did a small patch on the frame where someone had hacked it with a torch years ago for exhaust clearance. I also extracted a broken exhaust manifold bolt in the aluminum head. As soon as I get those mounts I feel like progress will start coming quickly again.

Nice bead. Repair looks top notch.
I've gotta ask. If for some reason the radiator doesn't stay will it be used in the Camaro? I have a Camaro in the works and am thinking that the radiator you chose is one I might pull the trigger on in the future.
Just wondering.
Looking good.

Re: Coufal's 66 C10 Build

Haven't posted on here in a bit. Motor is in, harness has been converted to stand alone, tank is mounted as well as filter and lines. Spent the last two nights making a throttle pedal mount since this build will be DBW. Just something simple, sturdy and quick. It will be painted black and the base covered by carpet....so it shouldn't be too visible (aka ugly). It has a little adjustability up/down and can be shimmed to change the angle. As of right now it has 100% motion, however a slight mod might be needed later to adjust for the thickness of carpet/sound barrier.

Next up is to mount the computer and run the harness through the firewall.

picked up a fleetside bed for my build yesterday for $300. Came complete with decent wood and all the strips.

Where did you get the bed? I am looking for a seat for my 62 and hadn't found one in the Killeen area.
