700r4 problem

84' k10. Trans is stuck in 2nd(not really stuck)? Happened a few weeks ago too. Low gear second and reverse work fine. Won't go in higher gear. last time it did it, it just started working again. been fine til today. What ya think?

It could be the TV valve is stuck (in the valve body). When stuck it should eventually shift if going fast enough.

If it, flat out, will not shift, I would pull the governor and check it carefully.

Jacked up the rear and run it in reverse. let it slow and dropped into drive. did that twice and it cleared up. shifting fine now?? could it still be tv or governor?

That jarring will free up the Governor, I wonder if you have a missing Governor Thimble Filter?
