Question Pics of stepside taillight wires

Anyone have a pic of the wires/plug for a 67-72 stepside taillight(s)?

Mine seems to have 2 wires on each plug, but there is a mystery third wire that looks to be cut. Trying to find out what a stock plug and wiring harness looks like. Also, if anyone knows what color wire goes to what, that would be great. Trying to figure out an electrical issue in another thread. Thanks!

Nope, I have a separate wire for that. And both taillight plug has 3 wires.

Here's your tail light wiring harness.

Wire colors:

Brown ---tail lights

yellow ---left turn/left brake

dark green----right turn/right brake

light green ---reverse lights.

Main connector is on the firewall behind the distributor, then a mid frame connector and finally a rear frame connector.

Thanks Vette Vet. I'll have to compare that to what I've got.

The taillights ground through their bodies and the two studs where they bolt to the bed bracket. There is no separate wire.

Re: Pics of stepside taillight wires

I went out and took pics of my light harness on the 69 stepside. It is as factory, unmolested.
The 3rd wire from the left side tail light is actually the lead to the license plate light. Due to low light it may be hard to see but mine is still in place and correct. Have a look.

Re: Pics of stepside taillight wires

thanks! I have LED brake lights so I'm not sure how the previous owner hooked them up. Although, it was working fine when I bought the truck originally so I feel it's got to be a bad ground somewhere.

Re: Pics of stepside taillight wires

It's been my experience on stepsides that the ground circuit fails where the studs on the back of the light bolt to the brackets. Sometimes it takes some corrosion removal and fresh toothed washers under the mount nuts to get a reliable ground.
