Manual/TS 4l80 stuck in limp mode

Finished my 4l80 swap a few days ago. On the case connector, i have 12v to Pin E and Solenoids A and B grounded to toggle switches in the interior. She remains stuck in limp mode (2nd gear only).

this is how Ive got it wired

I don't have the TCC wired to ground yet. I also do not have the force motor/ PCS wired to to 12v or ground. Could this be the culprit? Or is it something else?

Re: Manual/TS 4l80 stuck in limp mode

*UPDATE* Got her to shift finally. Checked a few connections and found the 12v wire to be dead. Nuthin comin from it. Also had a bad ground on the PCS/force motor. So decided to reroute the pin E to the 12v junction block. All is good now.

Re: Manual/TS 4l80 stuck in limp mode

You need to get your line pressure under control before you break something!!!! Your also restricting Converter/Cooler/Lube flow & putting unnecessary strain on the Pump with no EPC control......Running power & ground to it is NOT a solution!

Converting to a Vacuum Modulator is the best solution if you really want to keep rocker switch control.

Trans Go part# 48-MOD, Transtar/WIT part# A34431E, Cost about $150.

Im well aware of that. Im building a pontentiometer to wire into the PCS/force motor. With the turn of a dial i can drop pressure to any denominator. Part is only $30.

Would be awesome for to have that. i dont like the idea of having rubber hose submerged in hot trans oil and having to drill the case. It SHOULD come with a steel line that juts up and comes out of the dipstick. Thats how i would do it. But that part is out of my budget so kudos to who goes with it.

This is not mine. But will be similar.

welp, the potentiometer thing was cheaper than i thought. But in the end it was a pain to have to keep dialing in and out to drop or raise, all the while shifting with toggle switches. I might make my own mechanism similar to a TV cable for line pressure control via the potent but that will be for the future when i have time on my hands. For now tho, got lucky and found a vacuum modulator on Ebay for $90. Instead of drilling the case i decided to use metal line and punch a hole out the dipstick tube to run rubber hose up to the intake.
