TH400 Pan Replacement
I have a 1980 with TH400 and the pan seeps in spite of new gaskets, be carefully straightening the edge as GM's factory/dealer training taught us to do so now I want to try one of those cast alloy pans I see occasionally, my question is this :
Ar all TH400's the same pan gasket ? . I don't want a deep one, just something solid I can install and forget about until next year's routine hot oil and filter service . ? Are there any that have drain plugs ? . Links to vendors and / or part #'s will be greatly appreciated as will be warnings what NOT to do / use . TIA,

Re: TH400 Pan Replacement
Make sure the pan is flat, get a quality flat cork gasket (not the paper thin one that comes balled up in a box.). Install the gasket dry and torque to bolts to 100 INCH pounds...done. Check for other leaks higher up such as a speedo gear or shifter shaft seal.
