newer 8 lug rear

looking at swapping a newer rear axle in my 71 k20,any issuses? i need to change gears, and find a carrior for my old one but found a 2000 with rear discs and the right gears for way less.. i know i`ll have to move perches and shock mounts, anything else i`m missing?

Keep in mind a 2000 will have metric wheel studs and rear disks will require some master cylinder re-thinking.

Add changing gear ratio in the front axle to match the rear

just bought the truck the 44 up front has complete rebuild..in 410 the back had some water in axle.. so the gears are rusty,and i want disc on rear..

Track width is also different, wheels will look odd in the rear.

They’ll actually look correct, old rear ends on the 4x4’s were narrower than the front. I swapped a 14 bolt rear out of an 02 chev and the track width matches the front.

Yep exactly also the American studs can be swapped in place of the metrics. I’ve got 2 disk 14s out of mid 00s trucks and I’ve swapped the studs already on one of them.
