Talking Steering wheel's for 67-72

I took the old Corvette wheel out of the ramp truck and put the new refinished 67 SS Impala 2 spoke wooden wheel in it.
One day I'll finish up the 67 truck wheel I cut and made a smaller diameter wheel.

Lets see what ya'll have used for a steering wheel. No aftermarket stuff just factory GM wheels.

Oh I used a tilt turn signal cam with the parts robbed out of a non tilt cam for the horn spring. It worked great.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Steering wheel's for 67-72

Not the best pic, but mine has a later model wheel. Had been considering a 3 spoke wood one like your last picture, but I really like that smaller Corvette wheel. What year is it?

Re: Steering wheel's for 67-72

I put a steering wheel from a square body on my K20 since it's smaller in diameter and gives me a bit more cab room. The leverage from the original large diameter wheel isn't needed with power steering.

If I remember right its a 82 model. I had a 82 collectors Corvette years ago. The wheel is much smaller.
I'll try and remember to measure it later today and post it.

Had a 1970 Camaro wheel and then opted for a 1985 Chevy van wheel.

Those are nice wheels but the 2 I have owned would get sticky in the summer time. I never liked that. That was back when my truck sat outside all the time though. I have a couple of friends who have them as well and say the same thing about them.

Thanks, the van wheel was a $10 junkyard find. I think it looks more truck like than the Camaro wheel did.

Nice wheel. Same as mine in the 68 for now. I may swap it out for the black factory wheel though later on.

Here is my 71 C 10 ss Chevelle wheel I redid. I leather wrapped it. I need to take it back apart and rewrap it though.

Well that sucks. I have one of those bookmarked for when I am ready to start on the interior. It would probably turn to oatmeal here in Florida.

Re: Steering wheel's for 67-72

Andy,
I like your 67 Impala wheel. Now, I have to start lookin for one.
I currently have a Grant Three spoke, that looks like the last picture, but want to go with a factory design.
I also like the late 50s early 60s Impala wheels

Thanks,
if I ever get the 68 done I'm going to finish the 67 steering wheel cut down I started. I plan to leather wrap it as well. Should be a nice wheel when done.
