12 volt alternators
Are GM, Ford, Dodge, or other makes pretty much the same?
It seems to me that 12 volt alternators should be basically the same.

Functionally they are similar as well as size wise. But the GM appears to have better electronics and is the choice for people swapping into almost anything on the planet. The 10si/12si are easy to install and reliable in addition to being inexpensive.
