Took Little Man for first vintage car ride

He can hold his head up well and has good mobility now, so a couple weeks ago I took little man on his first vintage car ride in my 65 Mustang.

The C-10's brakes are a little sketch and I don't have time to mess with it anytime soon, so Ford it was.

I think he was like 4.5 months old? We've gone for a couple more rides since. Pretty sure I enjoy them more than he does, but no crying so far (from either of us). He does seem to really enjoy looking out the window. I don't think he can see crap in our SUV.

Nice, even if it is a Ford. He doesn't really care at this point! Hope that changes though in the future.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Heck yea, that’s the way to train them early. My kids love riding in my Camaro.

This is very cool. Even though I grew up with neat vehicles, I learned to appreciate them on my own. I think it's cool that you are teaching him to enjoy them early.

Re: Took Little Man for first vintage car ride

Hopefully he's a Gen III. If he's not, I hope he'll at least humor his old man and tag along every now and again.

This is my dad, sister, and I around 1983. I'm on the fender in the red hoodie.

My current project car is a 1968 Pontiac Firebird. He'll probably be old enough to help by the time I actually get around to making it nicer (huge shop build still ongoing.....)

Sidenote... my dad had a 79 F250 flatbed plow truck when I was a kid. I *may* be guilty of randomly locking and/or unlocking the hubs. As mentioned above, they're fun to play with

Re: Took Little Man for first vintage car ride

Always took my kids and now grandson out in the old cars . Put seat belts in the back of the 66 chevelle just for him . As he got older he would shout "Punch it Pops" from the back . He really liked to it when I would just hit it a little and he was pushed back into his seat .

Nowhes blasting around on a dirt bike and has a couple of quads . He buys them busted and repairs and does them up nice rides for a while then sells them .

Got another one but it’ll be a while before he’s in one of the old cars. Got this picture other day . My daughters(his aunt) way of telling me she is going to be giving me another one in September

So many cute little kids! I think we're good with one (just turned 40 a few months ago).

Congrats, I’ve got one due in early September myself. I’m busting my butt to get the last 8K of the Camaro paid off so I don’t have to trade it in on a newer suburban

The Suburban/Yukon XL is coming regardless.

Keith, I’ve seen that picture before of you next your Pontiac, love it, such a cool thing to do.

Wow. This made me think. I have owned my Stepside for just about my whole sons life. He used to giggle when I would stomp on it. Like I was tickling him. He turns 24 next Friday.

Compensating for the "small hub syndrome" I miss my 1973

Summer before last, our kids and grandkids were out here for a couple weeks. Before they left we took a break from hiking and riding horses to give first the boys and then the girls a ride in Grampa's pickup up the skid trail / wood hauling road behind the house. It is sidehill and very steep in places.

Funny, the boys were calm and ho-hum and like yeah, this is cool but the girls squealed and kept begging "Again!"

I hope they can come back out this summer but now they have a foster son with medical issues so that complicates things. Last summer they were busy with a premature baby that died.

Re: Took Little Man for first vintage car ride

When my son was little I’d strap the car seat in the GTX and go cruising while my wife was at work. He liked giving the “thumbs up” to other cruisers and always ratted me out to mom for “squealing the tires”. I wish I had pics, but it predated digital cameras. Good times...
