Water! Y'all receiving lots of water in short order. I hope it doesn't wreck too much while helping with filling your reservoirs.

so cal still lets most of it flow back to the ocean, they count on us up here in nor cal to keep their golf courses and mega lawns green. the idiot in sacramento wants to build a 30 foot diameter tunnel under our delta to pull fresh water from the sacramento river so people in so cal get fresh water all year. if the morons in so cal would dam up some of those canyons and catch the water during wet years they could leave our delta water alone. oh wait--they can't do that, too many mansions built on those canyons.

The main highway into Modesto is closed as the wind toppled 30 or so power poles into the middle of the road yesterday. The wind and rain was scaring the hell out of Molly Dawg, she's never been thru one of these storms.

I guess Albert Hammond was wrong, it does rain in Southern California.

Re: Cali gets too much

Question: What's the average rainfall there?

Answer: There is no average, only not enough or too much

Re: Cali gets too much

So true! I see Topanga is flooded and blocked with mud in some places. When the 405 freeway was really bad, I'd swerve over and take the 10 to PCH, then up Topanga, when I lived in the San Fernando Valley. When PCH was closed between the 10 and Topanga ('05, I think), one of my co-workers found a way on surface streets that shaved 45 minutes off my commute home. I got on the 405 at Inglewood Blvd, and it would take 1 Hr 45 Min to get to the 10 before I got that tidbit of information. MAN, I'm so happy to be retired and not in that traffic. It was an ugly 2 hour ride on a good day, going home. Which I did for over 23 years. I got something of a break by working launch operations at Cape Canaveral. I was only 11 miles from the hangar, so 2-1/2 years away from my family for a shorter commute. Not much of a trade-off, I guess.

Re: Cali gets too much

California has a wide range of climates. Some places get a few inches of average rainfall. Some get several feet of rain, or snow.

My fence blew over yesterday so that was cool.

Re: Cali gets too much

It's been raining like crazy here. No snow but it sure was cold enough. We've been tuning up the Kernville house for Whiskey Flat Days Feb. 16th-19th. I haven't been here in a year because I was sick. It was a mess of leaves (27 trash bags ) and no power or propane. Brrr!! All fixed now but my Corvette is parked in a foot of water ( I shoulda remembered that spot flooded)

I also had a half cord of almond wood delivered so it's nice and toasty inside now. No more leaves in the yard. Just dog sh!t. The dogs wont poop in the yard when it rains so they poop on the steps so I need to watch my step when I go out to get a log for the fire, I might step on a different kind of log. It's a mine field.

The best news and it really is the BEST is that I couldn't get to my surgery consultation because of the weather, so we did the initial pre op. thing on the phone and the doc said that I didn't need the surgery! The chemo and radiation got the tumor! They are just going to monitor it for now. I'm off the hook! The weight of the world has been lifted off me. I've got my life back and I'm ready to throw a party! Bring on Whiskey Flats!

Thanks Mark. After watching your ordeal with your surgery it really scared my panties off to have my Esophagus removed and rebuilt in a risky surgery. I knew that wouldn't be a picnic. But what choice do you have when they give you a 20% chance of survival if you don't? Those are bad odds any day. But for now I've dodged that bullet. Words cannot describe how happy I am. I thought that I was a goner for sure. They told me so. Then all of a sudden they didn't. Go figure? Whatever... I'll take it.

You're welcome anytime. I'm gonna fire up the grill and let her rip! Expect madness because this place gets crazy on Whiskey Flat Days. I'm not kidding the city blocks the street. But I've got the spot. I'm downtown on the main drag next to the rodeo grounds and I have a big deck.( I said deck get your mind out of the gutter ) We've had many parties here over the years and I can't really remember any of them.

Good news, Paul!

We're supposed to get some really heavy rain on the other side of the mountains. That's OK by me, not living there any more.

Thanks everybody. I guess I'm on borrowed time now and I aim to take advantage of every minute of it. You never realize how fragile and precious life is until you get told that you're dead. It wakes you up big time.

Back on subject. My car in a puddle. Notice that it's all good except where I parked.
