Fastest car you've ever been in?
I'm nowhere near a racecar driver, never was, but I did some stupid things as a kid, such as 145 MPH-ish (buried speedometer) in my RX2 on many occasions. Wasn't long before I did a 180 on a dirt road, thankfully at a much slower speed, "avoiding a coyote"
Soon after my former step-dad loaned me his 1/2 ton ford with a beefed up 428 his brother built, "knowing I'd wreck that too". I drove that for maybe a month before I did another 180 racing a 455 GTO, which started a few lengths ahead. I was on his tail to pass, the truck was a real bad*&%. But he panicked & locked up his brakes, losing control and that GTO took up the entire road. That's an image & audio I'll never forget. I'm doing 80 @ minimum, pedal to the metal, but I took the field option on the left, up an embankment. Nearly had it too but the front tire blew, forcing the truck back into the road, the wheel sliced through the road, and my stepdad's truck was on the front page of the newspaper. No injuries less a sore thumb, at least until the cowboy came home. I figure I had that one a-comin Two 180s in three months, no accidents since. Decades later he told me he was surprised I was still alive. Today I'm 70 MPH guy, everyone else is nuts Other than that I've driven a 440 Charger. 403 Trans Am was alright. Look at this set-up. I've never sat in anything remotely close this kind of power - wouldn't know what to do with it if I did. https://www.facebook.com/pistontribu...5139906924735/

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
I haven't heard that car brought up in many decades. Didn't know they carried a 8 cyl.
My friend had a Javelin, I don't recall the block but it was impressive.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
They came with a 260 or a 289. 351w was basically the same block. Javelin was probably a 401

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
Fastest car I've driven was a 93 50th anniversary Corvette. It was basically a base model with a 6 speed, but it was still fun to drive. Unfortunately for me, it was a customer's car at the restoration shop I worked at for my first job. It had dry-rotted tires, and I technically shouldn't have been driving it, but the boss told me to, so I did. I think the fastest I went was 50, but still fun

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
Richard Petty Experience. 153 mph in a Nascar. We had to stay in the lower/middle of the track. The ride along did full speed against the wall... and when you're going 153 and a car literally blows past you... wow...
I've never been much of a speed demon. In my personal stuff I can probably count how many times I've cracked 100 using my fingers and toes. 110-115 mph is probably my tops.

Dads 67 Camaro with a 427 4spd. I had it up to 110 once but that was with 5 people in the car and it was the last day of high school!

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
This is my baby, BLUE. 2010 2SS/RS Camaro. First pic is on pit road at Las Vegas motor speedway between on track sessions, did somewhere between 110-120 on track at laps for charity back in January. That’s going to be a yearly occurrence from now on. We went as a Camaro club 55+ 2010-2020 Camaros in total, we took the track in groups of 6. Ive been a die hard, never miss a race Nascar fan all of my life. You have no comprehension of the banking until you sail off into the corner at 100+ mph and feel the car load up and squat down. It’s an amazing experience. I’d post one of the videos of the first couple corners at speed but my wife would likely kill me as all you can hear is her screaming I had Seek and Destroy playing loud and proud with the windows down and still all you can hear is her Its pretty cool because you can run any groove on the track, up against the wall gives a real sensation of speed and down low you can really feel the banking. The fastest I’ve been in the Camaro is somewhere between 145-150. I did 175 on the back of a hyaubusa 15+ years ago... NEVER again on two wheels.
Second pic is from one of the on track sessions. Edit; of course it rotated the second pic, the banking isn’t THAT steep haha. Love your ‘68 Greasy Harley, I bet that Jericho is bad ass. I’m saving my cash up for an LSA supercharger and cam swap as we speak. The goal is 650-700 Rwhp.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
143 in my '66 Le Mans with a RA III 400 going across the Nevada desert, where you come off a hill and can see a straight road for many miles. I leaned into it a bit at a time, and when I got to 80 MPH, I'd just move over and pass the other people. I started to get bored, and just kept pressing the pedal down. I had an adjustable redline on the aftermarket tach set to 5500, but the needle stuck on it (I didn't notice). The speedo was way off, so I wasn't sure of the speed until I calculated it, later, based on the RPM. I went into a dip in the road, the headers hit the road, and the needle, which had been sitting at 5500 twanged over to 6800. I knew I'd hurt it bad, at that point. By the time I got down to 80 MPH, I could hear the rods knocking. I had spun 4 rod bearings, I learned later. Then it started boiling over like a tea kettle. By the time I stopped, it was percolating pretty good. All those cars (dozens) that I had passed just went on by when I had my thumb out. The speed limit was national, at 55 MPH in those days, and those people were not pleased. After a bunch of cars passed, the NHP pulled up and asked if I needed help. By then, I had enough gas and food money to make to my destination, and couldn't afford a tow. So, we started walking to town and finally a guy with a pickup truck gave us a ride into town- Goldfield, Nevada. I also had a '69 Camaro RS with a 327 and a 4 speed, and a '65 Malibu with a 327 and a THM350 that both made it to 140 and the engines lived. I may have ridden in faster cars, but never got them to that kind of speed.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
I certainly can’t compete with the fantasy numbers in this thread but I have driven up a 4% grade at 3 mph with 140 tons in the box and read 5 pages in my paperback!

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
Richard Petty Experience here as well, 160 by myself, 180 in the ride along. Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 03. Wife was director of operations for the largest DMC in Vegas at the time, I rode for free . Got a pic of her with Richard without his sunglasses on too, need to dig it out from somewhere in the garage...

I know guys who did those stock car experiences. If you want to do one, start pumping iron now. Those cars take some strength and condition to drive.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
Fastest I've ever driven myself was 118 in an 04 GMC Envoy. It was my daily and I loved that thing. Sent the ecu away and had it tuned and a lot of BS turned off/deleted and the speed limiter removed. Had a bunch of supporting mods too and that 4.2 inline six would really get down for what it was. Could hang with and usually outdo anyone in a stock 5.3 powered anything. Probably could've maxed the speedo at 120 but the brick was getting pretty light in the front at that speed and I was on two lane and running out of straight road.

I had a 2002 silver convertible corvette. There was a guy in the DFW area with the same "looking" car only it was a Shelby supercharger engine and supercharger. I want out of the car when he got on it.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
I had a mid 90's SHO. It got to 120 no problem, approaching 130, she started flosting, which is where I let off. It was still pulling hard though. My buddy bought a Bonneville SSEI. He wanted a sleeper. He installed a pulley on the Supercharger, had tbe car tuned, all the usual mods. Boy that thing would eat Fox bodies and F bodies alive on the street. We did do a lot of high speed cruising north of the 120 mark also.

Re: Fastest car you've ever been in?
Two wheels was probably in the 135-140, I stopped looking at the speedo at 125 and focused on the road ahead.
Riding in the back I know the 65 mustang was at least 125 because that was the last time I leaned up to look and started praying a bit. Was driving my buddies 280zx once and don't really know what we topped out at because the speedometer was broken. A buddy following us asked me how fast we were going because his Pontiac was pegged at 120 and we were pulling away from him.
