Holy crap it fits!

Finally got around to stuffing the motor home 454 in the blazer. It had about 5k on the ticker from a short block rebuild. Hooked it up to an NP A 833 4sp OD trans. I used a auto trans cross member and POL tubular engine mounts. No firewall/ HEI issues and it used all factory holes for the trans/engine mounts ( I was worried I would need to get under there to redrill holes for the trans crossmember). Even the factory Hurst shifter that came stock on these tranmissions is a perfect fit. Now to pull it all out for cleaning and paint. The tired old 350 was leaking bad before it came out. I found a F*** 9" 5x5 disc brake rear thats on it's way from Cali tomorrow. Some new perches, gears and a shortened aluminum driveshaft and I'll be back on the road. Why the F*** rear end? Discs, gearing,1.5" wider then the 12 bolt and $300. with new pads, hoses and rotors. I'll post more as it happens. Sorry the pics kinda suck, I was in a hurry.

Any pics on the POL tubular engine mounts? Also, are they mounts that use the factory crossmember or is it a whole crossmember and mount setup?

Any oil pan clearance issues?

Would enjoy seeing pics showing the firewall clearance near the heads and also the crossmember.

Oh, congrats!

Re: Holly crap it fits!

I'm not surprised. If there's anything I've learned in during the swap I'm doing now, it's that a SBC is and SBC for the most part (regardless if 1960 or 2005), and a BBC is a BBC as well.

Re: Holly crap it fits!

Yukon Jack, I'll try to post some pics in the morning. The engine mounts use the front holes on the factory crossmember. No oil pan problems. Now for headers for a 4spd that won't interfer with the z bar.....

Re: Holly crap it fits!

Nice idea on the rear, 1 1/2' wider sold me. Didn't want to run adapters..

Nice swap, no substitute for CI

Re: Holly crap it fits!

I'm very eager to see the additional pics as I'm right in the middle of deciding how to modify my engine crossmember for a touch more oil pan clearance.

Re: Holly crap it fits!

Jack, the pics I got last not are not worth posting, they make it look like there is no crossmember space. When I get it cleaned up and painted I think it will photograph better. In a few weeks when I have it on a lift for exhaust I'll try to get some more. PM me your email and I'll send the few I got last night.
