Another road trip, another truck. Go figure.

Hit the road tuesday am headed for texas to pick up a truck i looked at when i was there in feb. It was in a private yard and i couldn't stand to see it just sit there. I tracked down the owner with some help of some friends in the area and here is the end result.
Pics along the way...

Re: Another road trip, another truck. Go figure.

Stopped by the lawrence Ks swap meet for a little bit and found a few items. It was very wet and muddy. Tractors pulling vehicles out constantly. Glad i stopped as i have not been to that one before. First pic is from a Wi swap meet the week before.

Re: Another road trip, another truck. Go figure.

And the truck in question... Still has NM plates on it. Says it runs but i have not tried it yet. Very dirty but looking past all the dirt i see potential.
First pic is the first time i got to use my new winch. Worked great in the rain.

Awesome truck. I am surprised by how many big block trucks don't have manual transmissions...

Re: Another road trip, another truck. Go figure.

Im jealous. Many more options and they would have to have slapped another SPID beside that one.

Yowza, that's quite a find - Custom Camper, big block, nice SPID indeed... And the 573 paint... Not only was this a one-year-only offering, it was also the only instance in the entire 67-72 era where Chevrolet offered a non-white (or off-white) Special Two Tone. Nice nice nice.

Nice! That medium olive and yellow is really cool. Did you come all the way to NM for it? I’m thinking not solely because it doesn’t rain here

I can see where your attraction to this truck came from. Very unmolested under the hood, too!

That was one thing that i really liked was the paint scheme. Of course a BB doesn't hurt...

I picked it up outside amarillo. They sure need rain there.

Wow! That's a nice well optioned truck you scored! Looks like you did pretty good at Lawrence as well. I was there Saturday and yes it was a mess, we had rain for about the whole week leading up to it. Some of the vendors I usually always see there didn't show this year.

I was hoping to see some vendors there but didn't see any for what i needed. Still had fun. I was in pouring rain all day thursday to get there, and it poured a few times!

Yep, it does have a gmc bumper for some reason. I just may have a correct one here somewhere.

Re: Another road trip, another truck. Go figure.

Update: Had a buddy figure out some wiring and hooked up the HEI. I actually drove it tonight! Engine sounds decent considering it has probably sat since 05. Had a little bit of brakes and the trans seems ok too. Still need plenty of love, but its a start. Stock gas tank is nasty, going to have to change that.
