Centerline wheel center caps

I just bought a set of centerline wheels and the center caps wont fit over the hub on the rotor. Has anyone had this problem and has anyone ever turned down the hub of the rotor on a lathe. THX

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

Oh yeah... ran into it again today! You have to have the cone on the rotor machined down. A little annoying, but the wheels look pretty cool! I am guessing they are the smoothie style?

I work @ Oreilly and all I did was get the cheaper rotors the Brakebest not the Wagners and the caps fit.

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

I haven't machined them yet... just rolling it around the shop without centercaps up front! Just mic the inside diameter of the cap and turn the cone down on the rotor .125 to .250 less.

Centerline has the 20x8.5 on sale here.

<edit> I want a set, but 20's won't go with the look. Nice wheels though.

Maybe you're using the wrong truck? It would appear you talked to a real sevice oriented sevice person.

to clarify, you're talking about the center section that holds the bearings right?

do you think a 5 on 5 rotor would still need to be turned down?

and what size tire did you go with?

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

These wheels are specifically made for 88-98 trucks... That is why they do not fit the hub on your rotor. All you have to do it take your rotors to a machine shop and have the ends of the hubs turned down. I got it done for 10 bucks...

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

I sent the pics of the rotor to them and also the invoice said 1972 c10. If you tell me there going to fit than the bastards should fit. I work at a machine shop and I still dont feel that I should have to turn these rotors down "which I already did" What about the people who dont have axcess to these tools. I dont feel they should have to pay to have them machined. Booooooo On centerline.

Dude, they offered to give you your money back.

That's a helluva lot more than some wheel companies would do.

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

I was thinking about these wheels for my 68. If I do the front disk conversion from ECE, will I have to machine something to make them fit right?

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

If your using the 67-72 rotors Im pretty sure you do. Everyone I talked to has had to. Try grnddnw He might have a way not to. Unless he is using an 88-9? rotor and they work on our spindles. If some one has a rotor trick let the rest of us know.
