New Rockers what seam sealer to use?

Worked this weekend getting my outer rockers, front A pillar and a small section of the footwell removed and prepared for replacement. There was a seam sealer that I had to remove during cleanup and I was wondering if anyone knew what I should replace it with.

i just did this same repair on my suburban. i went to my local autobody paint store and bought a 1 part made by 3m called Fast and Firm. costs about 20 bucks a tube but its non silicone and seems like its going to work great. used it on my welds on the floor repair and on my rocker seam. supposed to be sandable and paintable..but havent tried either yet lol

i have used this on my truck got it from eastwood. made in canada eh? just noticed the leaf on it

Definitely go with a seam sealer from your local auto paint supply store. The best kind I have found is either a 3m or a valvoline product called plyogrip. Make sure and get a caulk style tube or an intermix 2 part sealer. I recommend the two part ones because they are chemically hardened as oppose to air dry. When you look at a selection of them at the paint store there will be many that will work from 3m or plyogrip. fast and firm is good and i use it for a lot of applications but it is one part. My ultimate recommendation is 3m's Heavy bodied seam sealer. It isnt runny and is very controllable and works great on vertical surfaces. here is a link to 3m's site where its at. Good luck

o and I really highly discourage using brush on seam sealer. Its a mess and very hard to execute a professional looking repair.

I will look at the 3M sealer. I'm not sure what they used in 1971 but I couldn't believe it was still so pliable. I just want to make sure I use something that will last and that is paintable.
