Softtopper question?

I have a softtopper for my 75 which is still packed in the box. It was the last white one and i bought it as they said they weren't making any more of them.
rigth now i'me juggling fixing up the hard top and refinishing it but it occurs that i wouldn't have to do all that if i just put the softtopper on and left it on. it highly unlikely I'd be driving this in the rain anyway and frankly here in the San francisco area the rain is telegraphed days in advance so that with anything more than a sprinkle expected it could be under a waterproof cover. Weighing the convenience of this against the originality of having the hard top . Does anyone take their hard top off and then fit a softtopper for the summer or one the softy is on do they tend to stay????

Re: Softtopper question?

I've held on to my hard top, just in case I ever wanted to reinstall it. It's been a year now, and the top still sits behind my shop. You'll love the soft top. It's perfect for crusing around, while not getting beat by the sun.

Re: Softtopper question?

mine is (will be) on a 75 so that's a full top. Wondering if that makes a difference - it certainly makes the top more unwieldy. Any opinions from 72 - 75 owners?

Re: Softtopper question?

I havn't tried putting the hard top back, since I got it.
I wasn't sure if it would fit with the extra (softopper) seal installed.
I sure love the ease of "top down" now
I've still got the hard top in the yard, but I've been in some good storms ,no leaks.
otherwise it's in the garage, but I stored the truck topless with the soft top in the house for the winter.
