Everything is TOO high priced.
Buying anything these days is a sticker shock situation
Thanks Joe.............

Don't really know, but I have noticed original parts are fewer and in-between since I started my build 9 years ago.

4800 for that huh? I've seen better.

Everything is way too high. But don't blame the sellers. They ask what the buyers are willing to pay. Buyers drive the prices up.

Re: What part or parts from our trucks has prices have gone up up up ?

I flipped a set of very nice 68 chromed hubcaps last month. I expected to get close to $1k but they surprisingly sold for $2,075. The second highest bidder bid to $2,050, and the third highest bidder bid to $1,475 (aka it wasn’t a fluke).

I have an identical set (even slightly nicer) on my 68. The high price and rarity has caused me to buy a set of these caprice/impala caps which I plan to paint to match so I can run these around town. Lol

Re: What part or parts from our trucks has prices have gone up up up ?

I started on my '67 C10 in 2020. I started buying the things I knew I would need and many of them sat on the shelf for over 3 years....
but just as one example, the VA kit for the AC, I paid around $1200 for....now it's pushing $2000 for the same kit.

Aftermarket bed sides. They were about $650/side and now $1200. That is in Canuckistan Kopek currency.

I paid $1200 for an entire OEM SWB bed, stripped down to metal, about 15 years ago. Kind of an unfair comparison though, I looked for ages, got real lucky. Real nice, but needed lots of attention for perfect. Price included a good front bumper, which I needed as well, with solid park lights. Just installed the bumper, rechromed. Since we're talking numbers, bumpers were $800 each to re-chrome last yearish, and lots of driving miles. Rear needed some attention, front was real good. Matter of fact they tried to give me a rechromed front after market bumper, and they even declared it an original bumper, BS. I discovered that soon after I rec'd it. 1.5 years to have both done. Quality triple chrome job, yeah some still do that in Ca., somehow. But the service was obviously no good. It's pretty rough in Ca.

I really think it depends what the part is, though as I mentioned, parts aren't as plentiful as once before. Here's a CLEAN NOS 1/2 ton hubcap, $200. That's not an increase or much IMO, over the last decadish. In part many old timers know to appreciate GM parts, they're just better than most OER replacements, by far. Well, many of us are well past their day, if alive at all. Strikes me youth couldn't care less if parts are quality or not, because if it blings that's good enough. Heck, some of these 67-72 sell in the 200K even 450K range, thanks internet, world cash and many, MANY deep pockets. Dollars to donuts much of them are replacement parts from LMC and such.

As for the price of life today however, it's shocking, and I think the govt. BS the numbers too. My normal income is worth perhaps 75% what it was 3.5 years ago. Not hurtn', and they pay me to not come in, for life.

Yeah that happened when I was restoring my 68 Camaro in the mid 2000's. The NOS stuff got hard to find and very expensive and still is to this day. Once the market went through the roof on these trucks that area was going to be the one of the casualties as people start to hoard stuff.

How about center consoles for the 70's trucks. Anytime I find one of these in the junkyard I celebrate with a steak dinner. These things are going from 500 to almost a 1000. The front grilles 70's trucks were also going really high to LMC came out with repops but the GMC can fetch crazy money as still

Anything to do with the sport buckets have gone crazy. The seat frames are out of sight and the drivers side seat track has gotten crazy expensive. Its why when I did my buckets I made tracks and risers out of Chevelle seat tracks. Early consoles are getting harder to score too, quite a few have been cut up to add the cup holders like the later ones. It took me a year to find a decent price on a belt buckler holder early console.
