My classic rides
I have a Chevelle. I always wanted one, so when the opportunity presented it's self I bought it. It is exactly the car I wanted: 1966 SS 396 4-speed Convertible. It is my "dream car" and I own it.
Problem is It's not done ...not even close. It's all there, it's solid, straight and numbers matching. The problem with that car is It deserves to be restored properly [correctly]. That takes a lot of time and money...so it sets. (12 years now) It's inside, stored properly, it's safe and out of harms way. Hopefully, someday I'll be able to give it the attention it needs. In the mean time ...it sets. Great car, but that ain't no fun. This brings me to the C10. I always wanted a 67 or 68 Short wide C10, so I finally got one. Nothing special. 327, granny 4-speed, stripped down plane jane with rusty rockers and a couple dents. My dream truck? nope, but it sure is fun. Best part about it is, I can do whatever I want to it. As long as I use quality parts, do good work and don't do anything stupid, it's all good. So, since I can't afford a cherry ride, and I can't restore my dream car just yet, ...I can drive the holy living crap out of my little blue truck. I literally can't drive that truck without smiling. I love it, dents rust and all. Nothing is polished, nothing is buffed. I can drop in ANY motor/drivetrain combo I want, modify anything I see fit, No wrong choices. Only one rule: I make sure that truck is NEVER tore down for more than 1 month at a time. EVER. Keep it dirty, keep it runnin'. It's more fun that way. That's what I'm thinking right now. -Russ

Your a lucky man to make it happen
Your Chevelle will be a nice car I'm sure one day , it sounds like you have the passion to get it there. Your truck is the way I would like one also |

Re: My classic rides
You have a couple of great rides there! That 66 has the right stuff. My 66 was a 283 & PG. Your truck looks great. Those wheels are perfect on there!

Re: My classic rides
Awesome Chevelle and don't get discouraged! Just think if you didn't have one and you were trying to buy one. The prices are almost out of reach. I have a 70 Cuda 440 6 barrel car I'm working on acquiring. I will be in the same boat with it. It could be a long while before I get that car done. I may have to go to the bank and take out a wad so I can get it done while my friend who I'm getting it from is still around.

Re: My classic rides
You have to have it to restore it, so you're half way there with the Chevelle. All my life I have owned what cool old vehicles I wanted. I only sold any of them because I figured I could always find another, because that's how it always was. Not so anymore. At least not for me.
I agree what we all need is one to drive and enjoy. There are trucks just as worthy of fully correct restorations as cars. But one you can enjoy without worrying about keeping perfect is great
