interior / floor
I m working on 67 c10 inside & out have put paddind & carpet behind the gas tank and around the whole back lower part of the wall , have not take the original floor matt out . The ? is would you pull the matt out and put the padding and carpet on ...(or) put the padding on top of the old matt for more thickness & insulation .The motor is now a 350 with headers and flow masters(40) any help would be appreciated.
Thanks old larry |

Re: interior / floor
I'd certainly take the old stuff out. The new will fit better, it won't smell anymore either! If you want some insulation from the engine noise and heat, double up the padding, or use a dynamat type product.

Re: interior / floor
The old pad really isn't going to be good at keeping heat or noise out. It will make your new carpet look lumpy because the new won't adhere to it. The old saying, while you're here, you may as well do it right applies.
