High oil pressure

I have high oil pressure, like the fourth quarter of the gague when I'm driving. When idelling, it is just past the center of the gague. At 60+, it goes WAY off the marked section. What should I do besides change the oil? And what kind of oil do you recommend?

Is this with the engine hot or cold? If cold then it's normal, mine used to do that also.

Did you rebuild the motor with a high volume oil pump lately? That could be it.

This is warm. I'm usually on the freeway at between 60-75mph. I got a crate 350 dropped in in October and the oil was changed about 500 miles ago, so it beats me. Before on the last engine, it ran no more than half when everything was okay.

When I rebuilt my 402,I used a high volume pump.It kept the gauge pegged all the time.I bought a NOS GM 80lb gauge off e-bay.Now the needle reads in the upper part of the gauge. If you take Your instrument cluster out,the gauge has a pressure reading on it.My old one was a 60lb.

sounds normal to me too but if you're worried about it try a lighter weight oil, maybe that will help.

Peggin the needle is normal for a performance oil pump on a 60 psi gauge. I have a high volume pump and I also have an 80 psi gauge in my cluster. They are easy to find in the big trucks.

Thanks guys, I guess I was just being paranoid. I looked everything over, and the whole thing is fine. Turns out that the gagues all have a tendency to be inaccurate. My Tach is so bad, I don't have one!
