Re: Removing/Bracing Blazer Tub

Build you some square tube with attachments on the ends to go from the door hinge to the door latches. Do the same for the tailgate opening. Build some more square tube to go from side to side to keep the body from flexing in the tailgate opening. You could also build some square tube bracing that goes across the top fo the bedsides and screw them in to the "top" holes as well. Good luck.

I did a total frame off but I did all of the rust repair and panel replacement with the tub on the frame. Here are a couple of links on the subject:

Nice Blazer. I will be painting mine very similar to that. I removed my tub from the frame with the top still attached. I will be bracing it before I remove the top though.

Who hasn't...? J/K.

Deffinetly brace it.
Without any bracing, nothing will fit when you get ready to put it back together.

71Resto's links have alot of good info, check em out.

Re: Removing/Bracing Blazer Tub

Hey guys... thanks for the kudos.

I already feel like I've hijacked buckshots thread, so unless folks have some posts to offer up some help on his frame off... I'll start a new thread eventually with finished pics. Thanks again.

Re: Removing/Bracing Blazer Tub

Dang, this puts a kink in my thoughts of lifting the tub off of my frame. I had planned on re-installing the doors to brace up the tub but didn't intend on doing the cross bed and tailgate bracing. VT's post leaves me wondering if anything will line back up unless it is braced up the wazzoo..........
