Smile Any Hockey Fans out there

...just wondering if there are any hockey fans out there this time of year?
Particularly paying attention to and following the World Juniors Tournament?
Its been a very good tournament so far and we just got through yesterdays great game against the U.S juniors 3-2.....close game and really excellent hockey.
We are entering the medal round tomorrow so should be very good, entering hockey.
These kids (16-18 yrs old) are the very best of the next group about to make pro...with many of them having already been drafted to pro teams.
I also really love the international element and its also great to see the 'no fight' rule....immediate ejection from the tournament if you fight, which cleans up a lot of the game.
Anyhow, its a big tradition around here this time of year!!
all Good

Smile Re: Any Hockey Fans out there

Yeah, there is a lot of great hockey played around all sides of the Great Lakes...both U.S and Canadian side and it shows in the quality of all the younger players.
A couple of our top players (and popular) here in Victoria are American kids...one from Scottsdale, AZ (surprise?) and one from Minnesota...all high talent players.
A bit of a bummer today out of the World Juniors tournament was that Russia unfortunately eliminated the American Juniors. I was kind of hoping to keep the drive alive with having the U.S and Canada meet in the final...always a great rivalry and great hockey, as you guys know!
U.S always has a strong team regardless and their medal count over the last several years shows that.
Now, for us...we advanced today past Switzerland and are heading into the Semi-Finals against Finland on Saturday and if 'the moons align' maybe into the Gold medal game...we'll see.
These are 1 game events...all in. If you have a bad game...your on the plane on the way home, which is what makes these games such nail biters.
Regardless....love it!! I'm psyched!
All Good

Re: Any Hockey Fans out there

We started going to local hockey games here at the end of last season. This year, we got season tickets to the Knoxville Ice Bears. They play in the SPHL. We might eventually go to a Nashville Predators game or two, but probably as we learn more about the game. My sister actually used to figure skate when we were young, so I spent a lot of time on the ice, but never strapped on any hockey blades and played. My parents gave me the option, but I was too busy collecting and playing with my Hot Wheels.

Re: Any Hockey Fans out there

We used to have a small Hockey team here in town. But I don't think there is one left. Sometimes we would get tickets to go. It was always fun and cold.

Fayetteville has a team if you're not too far away.
