Tilt column, anyone recognize what it might be from

This is the tilt column in my truck. I want to put a gear indicator on it and the one I've got doesn't fit so I'm guessing this is not a stock column. PO gave me no info on it. Anyone recognize what it might of came from? Any help us appreciated

Column looks like a correct tilt to me. Can you post a picture of the gear indicator housing looking at it from the driver's seat?

Re: Tilt column, anyone recognize what it might be from

'doesn't fit'.....hmmm. In what way?
That tilt indicator should work but you are going to have to remove the (chrome?) indicator housing off of the column to install it (held on by 2 small phillips screws)
Once you have the housing removed, slide the indicator into the lower shifting slot on the column.
Then tilt the housing to get the upper pointer part inserted and 'locked' into the upper housing and carefully put it back on top of the column housing....then re-install the 2 phillips screws and you should be good to go.
I also put a small dab of lubricating oil on the lower tab before I put it in the column.
If you have been trying to install it without removing the upper housing....that is probably the problem.

By indicator, do you mean the white pointer? if so, here's a picture of mine installed. I found it easiest to place the "hook" under the housing before screwing it to the column.

Re: Tilt column, anyone recognize what it might be from

From looking again at the pictures in your first post, it appears that part of a previously installed pointer is painted black and still in the cavity in the shift collar. You'll need to pull that out.

I was just typing to address that, that may make things work...

UPDATE: First owner was right, old pointer was broke and painted. Pulled out the broken piece and now looks like it will work. I'll try to get the new one in tomorrow. I've learned the hard way that it's always better to ask than mess something up...

Thanks everyone

The chrome indicator looks like a standard '67 column indicator housing.the tilt column could be from a truck or Van.
