Oil capacity
I just change oil on my girlfriends 2014 dodge journey with the 2.4. I look up the oil capacity and its says 4.5 quarts. I also have a 2010 ford fusion that takes 5.2 quarts of oil. Lol. What's the angle here? I am trying to understand what the scam is. Makes zero sense. So from full to add is one quart of oil but they couldn't just make it 5 quarts? Everything else I change oil on is either 5 or 6 quarts. And I remember one day at the shop in the spring where I did an entire 55 gallon drum of oil. We were changing oil on all the tractors that day. Imagine a huge straight 6 diesel that says 9.4 gallons. Haha. That would be so stupid. Do any of you guys know what the scam is?

Re: Oil capacity
Newer 5.3's hold 8 quarts of oil. But do they live longer? Very unlikely. So why did they go from 6 to 8? It all just seems so shady.

Re: Oil capacity
My wife's 3.2 Volvo takes about 8 qts but at least the change interval has gone up to 12000km (7456mi). But of course the synthetic oil costs more and now that the oil filter is no longer encased in metal it has more than doubled in price too.
$20 oil changes are history. Actually maybe not. My son's old Focus still gets away with one jug of any oil and a cheap filter. |
