LS Swap motor mounts.

I am getting ready to do an LS swap into my 71 Chevy C-10 and have a quick question about motor mounts. My truck came stock with the 250 straight six and i was wondering if the mounts are the same for the six as the small block or is there a certain set of mounts that i need to convert from the straight six to small block. Any help would be appreciated.

The I-6 mounts are different than the V-8. Whether you can use either one/both with the LS adapter plates I don't know.

Re: LS Swap motor mounts.

This is what im wondering. My truck has the mounts for the straight six. All im asking is what are people using for the swap mounts that actually adapt to the stock mounts? Dirty Dingo has mounts as well as many other companys but they never mention the straight six mount just sbc or bbc.

Re: LS Swap motor mounts.

There are mounts, and there are perches/stands. What your asking about is the stands. Either the v8 or I6 stands work, as they both accept the lower bolt of a standard SBC mount.
The I6 stands usually need to be moved forward or flipped left to right. The SBC perches are even, where the I6 has one perch that slightly looks different.

You bolt the plate to the motor and then that to the mount. Then drop the whole thing into the perches.

Dirty Dingo sliders FTW! Just get the DD kit with sliders and motor mounts. Saves A LOT of headaches. I wasted too much time on fixed plates that never lined up.

Re: LS Swap motor mounts.

I used these in post #22 on my thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=585899

They put the rear of the engine in the stock 350 location, and my 4L60 on the stock crossmember, even used the same holes. You won't be able to leave the A/C compressor on the 5.3 in it's lower mount using these fyi. Greg

With the mounts you used did you have to d anything with the driveshaft and linkage?

Re: LS Swap motor mounts.

Thanks for your help lynnfield. I was thinking on going with that style mount,my main question was is there anything i will have to do to the original straight six part of the mount that is attached to the chassis. The reason for the question is no manufacturer states these are used for the straight six. Everything says for sbc or bbc.

Re: LS Swap motor mounts.

Solidaxle, yes I had to have the drive shaft cut. The linkage I used from the donor truck (page 5 starting at post #119) I believe the stock linkage would have worked, but not 100% sure since I didn't go that route

Cdog73, If it were me, and you wanted to go that route, I would get a set of sbc engine stands and change them out for the 6cyl stands. They can be had on the parts board for around $25. I may even have a set laying around here you can have if you want them. Remember as solidaxle reminded me of, the drive shaft will need to be cut. As stated earlier the DD mounts do allow you to put everything anywhere you want, so that is also an option if you don't want to mess with the drive shaft.
