67 c-20 conversion to 5 lug

I am looking for any advice on the best approach to convert my 3/4 ton truck to a5 lug setup. My reasoning behind this is to be able to lower the truck and install disc brakes. I have access to a 93 full size chassis which has the brakes and power steering set up I am looking for but not sure how involved that conversion would be. I do know the frame would need to be shortened six inches to match the 127" wheel base of my long bed truck. Looking for any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your detailed responses!

I have converted 2 trucks. First was a 70 6 lug truck w/ power drum brakes and the second was a 72 8 lug suburban w/ power disc brakes.

For the 70, I used a local vendors kit for the front which bolted in completely and for the 72, I just had to buy their 3/4T to 1/2T conversion spindles (I opted for the 2 1/2" drop).

For the rear on the 70, I just need the axles and brake drums but for the 72, I needed a complete rear end. 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton rear ends bolt in the same on the trailing arms trucks but you need to change the panhard bar (I don't know about leaf spring trucks).

I can tell you that the fittings on the 93 power steering box are different and you will need custom hoses unless you use the 93 power steering pump. You will also have to verify the frame width on the 93 is the same as the 67 and the placement of the cab/bed/radiator mounts (as well as the wheel base you mentioned).

If you have more time than money, converting the 93 might be better but it seems like alot more work than simply bolting the other stuff on IMO.

Hope that helped and good luck with your project!

You don't have to buy custom power steering hoses, just the end and the are adapters that can be had from companies like LEE manufacturing [leader in the steering industry] or better yet, just change out the big nut on the back of the power steering pump. It houses the pressure regulator and the inside is different with the newer type fitting. Jim

Why convert to a five or six lug? I woudl think it has eight lugs for a reason or is it overkill?

The next owner gets a truck titled as a C20 but then finds out it's not.

I also have access to a 64 c-10 chassis. Wil the lower control arms from that chassis work on my 67? That would hopefully allow me to use standard 1/2 ton drop spindle kit? Any suggestions on a good priced drop spindle kit that includes disc brakes for this set up?
