rear u bolts
im trying to take my rear end out of my 62 and put the one in out of my 77 but i cant get the bolts off the u bolts on the 62. is there some kinda trick? i think mine are really rusted on there and they have been soaking in wd 40 for about two days. i really dont want to cut them but i will if i have to. thanks in advance .

I would just get new ones and cut them off. Probably could use some new ones anyway. We do that on most all trucks. Takes too much time to remove them when working on a customers truck when its that old.

A mixture of 60% ATF and 50% acetone is the best penetrating oil there is, if you want to give it one last try.

i might im using a 3/4 inch pull handle with a 27mm socket and none of the bolts have even moved

What I do is if they look like they might come off is, heat the nuts up quick as possible till they are orange in color. Then put a impact wrench and socket on them and don't stop until the nuts are off. Of course to do this you will need a oxy/acetylene torch, a good impact gun, and an air compressor. Even when this does work, about 50% of the time the U-bolts aren't worth reusing. So I have to agree, for the cost of new U-bolts, I would just cut them off.

Yeah I cut mine and you still have to deal with the piece stuck in the trailing arm I used a punch and a BFH
