Fuel tank capacity and shut off question.

Hi guys,

On my '72 C20, what is the fuel tank capacity? Also, am I correct in that unlike modern cars the gas pumper won't shutoff when capacity has been reached? I have to hold it and keep an eye on the gallons I've pumped, right?

20 to 22 gallons.
What you've been told is bogus. The tank doesn't tell the pump when to shut off, the pump tells the pump when to shut off

Re: Fuel tank capacity and shut off question.

I have to put the handle in the tank as far as it will go and fill it up on the first notch on the lever, if I fill it up fast it turns off about every 10 seconds. Once my tank is full the pump shuts off automatically, it fills the tank up to about 3 inches off overflowing.
